National Disability Insurance Agency
North-East Speech Pathology are eligible providers for clients who have been deemed eligible for funding under the NDIA Scheme. You can access more information about whether your child may be eligible to receive funding by logging on to www.ndis.gov.au
The Carers Allowance is a payment available through Centrelink for families with children who meet their criteria as a child with a disability. Many families use this payment to pay for their child's speech pathology sessions. Paper work needs to be filled out in order to determine your eligibility and this is something that your speech pathologist can help you with once evidence of your child’s disability has been determined. For further information about the payment please log onto to www.humanservices.gov.au/customer/services/centrelink/carer-allowance
Chronic Disease Management Plan (formerly known as Enhanced Primary Care Plan)
Our clinic has many clients who have an Enhanced Primary Care plan, written by their General Practitioner. Please note that there will be a gap payment which means that accounts will need to be paid on the day so that clients can then claim the rebate directly from Medicare. The Medicare rebate covers a portion, but not all of the consultation and there is a limit of a maximum of 5 sessions per annum. Please be aware that you will need to make a double appointment with your GP when organising for such a plan as there is paperwork that needs to be filled, often requiring more than your usual 20 minute GP consultation.
Private Health Funds
Our practice accepts most private health funds but it is worth checking with your particular health fund prior to your visit to avoid any potential confusion. The amount you get back from your health fund will be dependent on the type and amount of cover you have. Sessions that have been paid a Medicare rebate cannot also be claimed under private health.
